Workforce Solutions 2017 Impact Report

At the end of each year, Workforce Solutions develops an annual report comprised of successful events, initiatives that made a positive impact in our community, information on in-demand occupation pathways and much more. McAllen, TX – The Workforce Solutions Lower Rio Grande Valley Workforce Development Board d.b.a. Workforce Solutions is proud to announce the re-election of Mr. Jaime Ortiz as Chairman to lead the Board for 2018. Also re-elected are Board of Directors Officers Ms. Cris Rivera, Vice-Chair, Ms. Dalinda Guillen, Treasurer, and Mr. Federico Lopez, Secretary. Additionally, Dr. Ricardo R. Gonzalez was recognized for his 19 years of serving on the Workforce Solutions board.

Appointed by the Honorable Judge Ramon Garcia, Mr. Ortiz has served as a member and officer on the Board since 2007. Mr. Ortiz is currently a partner in Miracle Medical Equipment & Supplies of South Texas located in Weslaco, and is an Insurance Associate with Sentinel Partners LLC from McAllen. Serving along Mr. Ortiz as officers include Ms. Cris Rivera, Chief Executive Officer for the Rio Grande Regional Hospital, Mr. Federico Lopez, Engineering Technician with Texas Department of Transportation, and Ms. Dalinda Guillen, Executive Director for the Rio Grande City Economic Development Council. 

After 19 years of providing valuable insight and crucial support, Dr. Ricardo Gonzalez has opted to forgo his spot on the Workforce Solutions Board Of Directors. “The progress that the board has made in my time is nothing short of outstanding. It’s been the result of teamwork on all ends. With Starr, Hidalgo and Willacy county coming together, we’ve made some incredible things happen,” recounts Dr. Gonzalez.

Workforce Solutions serves as the governing body for the workforce development area that includes Hidalgo, Willacy, and Starr counties. The primary goal of the WFS Board is to respond to the needs of local employers and workers through locally designed demand-driven workforce development initiatives.
