1. Blind Children’s Program (BCVDDP)
- Supports children (birth to 22 years) who are blind or visually impaired in Texas.
- Provides individualized family service plans to develop skills for independence.
- Offers training for parents, vocational support, and resources to help children become active in their communities.
- Specialized services for blind or visually impaired children, including planning and communication strategies.

- Email the Blind Children’s Vocational Discovery and Development Program at BlindChildrensProgram@hhs.texas.gov
- Call the HHS Office of the Ombudsman
877-787-8999, select a language, and then select Option 3.
Submit your request online
- Available to Texans with visual, physical, or reading disabilities.
- Provides free access to audiobooks and materials in alternative formats.
- Requires an application with certification by a qualified professional.

3. Easter Seals
- A nonprofit providing health, employment, education, and community services.
- Offers job training, in-home care, therapy, mental health support, and educational programs.
- Supports veterans, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers.
4. VAIL (Valley Association for Independent Living)
- A non-residential, consumer-led organization promoting independent living.
- Provides advocacy, resources, and skills training to people with disabilities.
- Focuses on community inclusion and empowerment in South Texas.
5. Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC)
- A one-stop resource center for seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, and caregivers.
- Uses a "no-wrong-door" approach to streamline access to Medicare, housing, and other benefits.
- Serves Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties.
6. Tropical Texas Behavioral Health (TTBH)
- Provides mental health services for children (ages 3-17) and adults.
- Supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
- Offers services for substance use disorders, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and integrated primary care.
- Focuses on recovery-oriented and culturally sensitive care.
