Workforce Solutions Announces New Board Members
The Updated Board Officers Include a New Board Chair and Vice Chair.
McAllen, TX – The Lower Rio Grande Valley Workforce Development Board (WDB) d.b.a. Workforce Solutions (WFS) announces the appointment of WFS Board Officers for the 2022 calendar year.
A major role of the Board Officers and members is to ensure the organization’s strategic and operational plans are market-driven and implemented successfully. Plans include a concentratration on workforce issues that will have a long-term impact on the economic development and well-being of their communities.
On December 8, 2021, the WFS Board Officers were elected by the Board to serve for a one (1) year term beginning January 1st and ending December 31st, 2022.
The 2022 Board Officers are as follows:
- Dr. Roy Sheneman, Willacy County – Chair
- Dr. Ricardo Gonzalez, Hidalgo County – Vice Chair
- Ms. Lorissa Luna, Hidalgo County – Treasurer
- Ms. Dalinda Guillen, Starr County – Secretary
The WFS Board of Directors (BOD) consist of 25 members representing the private sector, education, community based organizations, labor, vocational rehabilitation, public assistance and employer services. The WFS BOD represents and serves the counties of Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy.
Frank Almaraz, WFS Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the crucial role BOD’s play in helping the organization maintain a fresh and innovative perspective. “Our BOD helps us set organizational strategy and goals, so the role requires a connection to the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) in order to best identify workofrce issues that WFS can focus on,” said Almaraz.Almaraz futher stated “As the BOD evolves, we get an opportunity to see how the RGV is evolving around us too, since each board chair brings a unique perspective to the table.”
WFS Board Chair, Dr. Roy Sheneman states, “We have a diverse range of extraordinary leadership and talent across both the WFS employee base and Board of Directors. Diversity of ideas and perspectives is key to enabling us to successfully support the workforce system, and the needs of our community.”
